It has been 6 months since my last blog post and we all know how our worlds have been turned upside down. Last time I wrote, I was on Cloud 9 hustling my butt to get my business ready for the 2020 Prom Season. We did host 2 open houses in March. The first one was earlier and had a great turnout. We even had a lots of dresses that were going to be rented. The second one happened about a week before Minnesota shut down so the turnout wasn’t the best, but that didn’t mean I was going to give up. I still had hope for some sort of a prom season.
As we now know, almost all proms have been canceled due to COVID-19. What a great year to start a business am I right. There were a lot of downfalls and bumps throughout the journey, but we are here now. I have tried to get my name out there any way I could. I am trying to post regularly on the Dresses Ever After Instagram and Facebook pages. I do this because I see hope and the light at the end of the tunnel. Almost all proms and summer pageants have been canceled, but there are still great things going on.
Quarantine has given me opportunities that I would have passed up on if life was normal. I worked when I would have normally been in school and now I am pleased to announce that our dress inventory will be doubling next week due to the number of dresses I was able to purchase. This is something that would not have happened if our lives rushed by like normal. Also, Dresses Ever After has begun writing material for pageant prep. Some amazing and driven girls have already signed up and I am looking forward to seeing them compete this summer.
Besides the large number of dresses that are currently on their way, Dresses Ever After has also taken a leap and become the official crown sponsor for the Miss Hinckley Ambassadors. I will talk more about this in an upcoming blog post. COVID-19 has taken things away from us, but I remind myself of one of my favorite sayings. ‘You can think of it as a rose bush with thorns or a thorn bush with roses.’ Yes, things have been taken away, but great things were able to come from this experience.
